How
many times have you been working on a project for a solid client
when you have thought "Gee, I should do something nice for
this long term client. I want to solidify my business relationship
with him and I need more projects"? "Maybe I could add
an extra voice or two, just a few lines... but that would add to
my costs and I really can't afford it. I'm sure he would be impressed
but do you think some of my colleagues might help me for free"?

And just like its offline cousin, it's the most effective way to

Blogging and your business
In the last 1 to 2 years the number of blogs on the web has exploded.
The real question is, how can you use a blog to benefit your business?
In my experience the payoff from blogs are three-fold?
1. A blog provides the opportunity to showcase your expertise in
a non-formal setting. The discussion features allow you to easily
join client discussions, provide insights and solicit feedback.
2. For teams, blogs provide a simple and efficient method to share
information, hash out ideas, and then preserve the outcomes for
the future in an easily searchable form.
3. Search engines. Search engines love frequently updated sites.
If you can successfully initiate conversations using the blog your
rankings will improve.
For those of you who would like to install a blog on your website,
I would recommend the following packages.
- Word Press (www.wordpress.org)
is supported on any platform that supports PHP and MySQL
- For those of you without PHP, the Microsoft alternatives are DotNetNuke
(www.dotnetnuke.com)
