ACTRA on strike, but most actors still working.........By ACTRA

Film, television and radio performers were in a position to strike in three provinces early Monday, but there was not a picket line to be found across the country.

The Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists, which represents 21,000 members of the film, television and radio industry, announced a strike after talks with the producers' association broke down early Monday.

But ACTRA said it has signed continuation agreements with every producer with a film or TV project underway in Ontario, Saskatchewan and Manitoba to avoid a work stoppage......More

Reciprocal Linking vs. Mutual Linking
There is a lot of confusion over reciprocal and mutual linking and what it might mean for your site ranking in the major search engines. To help clear this up let's look at a few key points.

At the most basic level, reciprocal links are links you trade with other sites (you add their link, they add yours) in order to build link popularity. At the moment this does seem to help ranking in MOST of the major search engines.

I like to separate mutual linking from reciprocal linking. Mutual linking is where the content of each site actually benefits each other's sites. If you sell shoes, you may want to recommend other sites for replacement shoelaces and still other sites for shoe cleaning supplies.

The Impact
Google has been making the recommendation for some time that sites stop the practice of reciprocal linking. While it does not seem that Google explicitly punishes for the tactic it is something to keep in mind. The lesson from this is be very aware of whom you link to. You control where your site links to and that could come back to haunt you. Link only to the sites that will help improve your credibility and your sales!
