First
Impressions ?
Well, here it
is the beginning of a new year and many of us are trying to cast
our nets
a bit further into the Voice Over World, hoping to snag a few new
clients.
That means that we have to contact people who do not know us: producers
and clients
who need VO talents. And that brings us back to those first impressions.

Getting
the Best Performance
by Peter Drew
Your client’s approved the copy. You’ve cast the voiceover
talent. You’ve booked the session. Now, it’s time to
record. With the talent behind the mic, ready to lay down the track,
you wonder, “Will I get the read I hear in my head?”
The best chance at a
great read starts the before the session. Regardless of the voice
talent’s experience, there are things you can do to help the
talent give you an exceptional performance........More

How
to stream music or audio from your website.....by
Nunzio Fartalonet
This article will show you how to stream MP3 or WMA music
or audio on a web page using Windows Media Player object and embed
controls (for cross-browser compatability). This will allow large
sound files to be streamed as they are played, and will work perfectly
in all major browsers (eg: MSIE, Netscape/Mozilla, and Opera browsers).......More

So
- You're Considering a Career in Voiceover?.
by Doc Phillips
Many who enter the field of voiceover do so because they believe it
to be a snap! Get the script, sit down... and read it.
Not so fast! Even the most talented, experienced and professional
voiceover talent goes through a process with each script, albeit,
that process varies depending upon one's approach, style and (yes)
indiosyncracies.
Regardless, and I'm sure you've heard this before, voiceover sure
beats "digging ditches". No question. But, trust me...
it's not as easy as the pros make it seem. .....More

Free
Promotion.....Reciprocal
Links improve Search Engine Ranking...by Rick Gordon
Reciprocal links
is the online equivalent of word-of-mouth advertising. And just
like its offline cousin, it's the most effective way to get new
business. Reciprocal links between sites that share a common
thread of interest are even better and help both the sites immensely.
CV has put in a lot of hard
work and care in building a 'showcase' link-directory. We value what
you have to say and would like to do our best in extending your reach
while you do the same for us.
Check out our Links
page do a search to see if you are already listed.
Contact us if you are not there and we will be happy to upload your
link. We trade text for text or graphic for graphic. Sorry but graphic
links must be 171 X 52 pixels in order to retain the integrity of
the page. You can choose from a variety of CV links here.

Web
site Tips
Computer
Maintenance
Like most complex machines and appliances, your computer requires
regular maintenance. Some of the things you should be doing are:
1. Backup your computer. If the information you keep on your computer
is important, you should be doing this every day.
2. Archive old files. If you have large files, for examples MP3's,
on your computer that you now longer use on a frequent basis consider
moving them to CD/DVD to free up space on your computer. It will run
faster.
3. Anti-virus. Your anti-virus should run at least once a day, and
update at least once a day. If you do not have anti-virus software
a great free alternative to Norton and McAfee is AVG. Download it
from www.grisoft.com
4. If you installed programs that you no longer use, uninstall them.
5. Periodically run your computer's defrag utility.
For those of you using Windows XP, I suggest you visit http://www.Microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/maintain/default.mspx.
It explains how to perform these tasks and many more. If you are using
an older version of Windows you should consider upgrading.
For those of you with Macs, Apple has a good crash course at http://www.apple.com/support/mac101/
