Ottawa's first
VO Workshop/Seminar is a go for May 5-7th at Raven
Street Studios with my friend Harlan
Hogan, CTV's J.J. Clarke, along with Thelma
Farmer and Patrick Fry who are two very
experienced and well known VO Acting/Writing talents.
This 3 day workshop, the first ever in Ottawa, is designed to introduce
the VO business to those considering making it a full or part time
career. We will help participants decide for themselves whether
to indulge or not, while learning the "must have's" in

How to make your
site popup friendly
There are times when popup windows
are necessary, but what do you do when your site visitors are using
popup blocking software?
There are three options:
1) Restructure everything
to remove the need for popups
2) Place a “please
disable your popup blocker” message on all your pages, and
hope your visitors notice
3) All of your popup
links should also include a non-popup version of the link
I personally prefer the
third option as it provides the most consistent user experience
and you do not have to annoy users with a constant message to disable
their popup blocker.
For the really adventurous
there are JavaScript programs that can be used to detect if a visitor
is using a popup blocker. A good example can be found at http://www.visitor-stats.com/articles/detect-popup-blocker.php
